CCL CONTAINER TO ADD TWO MORE HIGH-SPEED LINES IN PENETANG PLANT
2005– CCL Container, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of specialty aluminum packaging, recently announced that it will expand its Penetang, Ontario, Canada plant by adding two new high-speed production lines in 2005. This brings the plant’s total number of lines to ten and making it the largest impact extrusion container facility in North America. CCL also has two high-speed lines in its Hermitage, PA plant, for a total of six operating in North America.
The first new line will commence service in January and the second in June. Both will produce aluminum containers ranging in diameter from 53 to 66 mm and up to 235 mm in height. These larger sizes are particularly well suited to the personal care and beverage markets. In addition, both lines are configured to accommodate full body-shaping capabilities. The company recently introduced Body Shapes®, a line of aluminum canisters featuring dramatic curves and contours running the entire length of the container.
“We are nearly doubling our high-speed capacity with this expansion, which reflects both increased demand by our customers and a major commitment on our part to remain in the industry forefront,” said CCL Container vice president of sales and marketing, Ed Martin. The added capacity will help us meet our 2005 production schedule while we continue to innovate in the areas of design and functionality,” he added.
With the addition of these two additional high-speed lines, the Penetang location will have a total of 10 lines. System wide CCL Container will have a total of 23 extrusion lines, including lines in Hermitage, PA and Mexico City.
All of the new lines will have the capability to create 9-color graphics, enabling an expanded range of package decorations.
“With our state-of-the-art graphic and shaping capabilities and now our improved production capacity, we can help customers dominate in the marketplace,” remarked Martin. “Not only will their products stand out on the shelf, but with the added output we’ll enable them to speed distribution. I believe the impact of this expansion is going to be dramatic for our customers,” he said.
