INDUSTRY TRIFECTA: CCL CONTAINER SWEEPS INDUSTRY AWARDS

2004 – CCL Container was recently honored by three leading industry organizations for its innovative packaging for some of the country's most well known products.
At the November 11 award ceremony at the Hanover Marriott Hotel in East Hanover, NJ, the New Jersey Packaging Executives Club (NJPEC), a leading trade association for packaging professionals, honored CCL Container’s aluminum packaging in multiple categories, including household/industrial, personal care, and food and beverage. Ed Martin, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, client representatives and others from CCL Container accepted the awards.
CCL's aluminum aerosol packaging for Procter & Gamble’s Febreze Air Effects took top honors, winning the Package of the Year award. It also won the Gold award, in the Household Industrial category, as well as the Students' Choice award for packaging that utilized CCL’s Trimline™ bullet-shaped container.
CCL was also honored by the NJPEC with the Technical Innovation Award for the Reckitt Benckiser’s Lysol Ready Brush packaging design. The device features a unique toilet brush powered by an aerosol that produces a foaming cleanser that makes cleaning easier. The Reckitt Benckiser Ready Brush also took the Silver award in the Household Industrial category. The packaging design for Pittsburgh Brewing Company’s Iron City Beer won the Bronze award, it the Food and Beverage category, for its seamless aluminum bottle that achieves and retains a cooled temperature more easily than glass packaging. Iron City Lager was the world’s first beer to convert from a glass bottle to an aluminum bottle (August 2004). The palm-sized, contoured, aluminum aerosol design for Unilever’s Dove Foam Conditioner received an Honorable Mention in the Personal Care category. This is container was unique version of CCL Container’s Comfort Hold-TM shaped aerosol package design.
The award winning containers were displayed at GraphExpo 2004 and Pack Expo International 2004 in Chicago, Illinois, and will again be on display at the Packaging Design Magazine Conference in Clearwater Beach, Florida in February 2005. CCL Container was also honored by the Institute of Packaging Professionals in Chicago, Illinois with the Ameristar Package Award for VPX Redline Fat Incinerator, a liquid supplement for client Vital Pharmaceuticals, Inc. of Davie, Florida. Redline is the first product of its kind to be delivered in a seamless aluminum bottle with re-sealable continuous thread finish, known as CCL’s CT-38. This is CCL Container’s third straight year winning an Ameristar Award. Ameristar Award winners were on display November 7 through 11 at Pack Expo International 2004 in Chicago, Illinois.
CanMaker Magazine, a leading trade publication for the container industry, hosted the Cannex Can of the Year Awards held on May 26 in Denver, Colorado. CCL was recognized at this global event for Belvedere's Stiff Funkifier Shaping Spray. The aluminum aerosol container received Silver in the Aerosol Category for its distinctive silhouette of stepped ridges using CCL Container’s Trimwave® design. This marked CCL Container’s third Can of the Year Award in two years as the company also won Gold (Beverage) and Silver Awards (Aerosol) at Cannex in 2003.
